The port is located in the North Sinai Governorate on the eastern border of Egypt. It was established in 1998 and has a total area of
 (98 thousand square metres). It is designated for the movement of goods only, with the possibility of being used in the future for the movement
 of individuals. It is opposite the Netsana crossing on the other side.
